Green Street welcomes London visitors seeking free advice on going green

 

A new web-based ‘eco-street’ has been launched by sustainability experts Envirowise to help businesses across London identify resource efficiency hot spots and cost saving opportunities.

The Envirowise Virtual Tour, known as Green Street, has been created using advanced web technology and allows users to explore an animated world via their computer, wherever they are in the region.

Business owners are invited to visit www.envirowise.gov.uk/greenstreet where the Cost Cutters Arms, the Verte Restaurant, the Green Leaves Hotel, the Water Tower office block and the Efficient Engineering Company have all opened their doors to offer simple advice on implementing practical environmental measures.

Points of interest along the virtual tour are supported by quick links to useful publications offering further free advice on tackling common resource efficiency hot spots, including ways to combat waste and practical tips for reducing water consumption and energy use.

Sophy Greenhalgh, Envirowise Regional Manager for London, said: “Research by Envirowise1 has shown that businesses in London believe that using fewer raw materials, generating less waste and placing a greater emphasis on energy efficiency are all likely legacies of the recent recession. By exploring Green Street firms can easily find out how to make positive changes and save money, with help on everything from minimising lighting and heating, to more detailed advice on developing a formal environmental management system.
