Business Link for London provides an overview of the environmental and efficiency support available to businesses in London including potential business opportunities.

The Conferderation of Business and Industry (CBI) has its own climate change micro-site. The site contains climate change TV clips, reports, case studies, and much more.

 


Energy and Carbon Dioxide Emissions

 

The Carbon Trust - helps businesses and the public sector to cut carbon emissions and accelerate the move to a low carbon economy. The website provides resources including downloadable factsheets and posters and information about interest free loans for energy efficient equipment. 

The Energy Savings Trust - provides a range of resources to help your organisation reduce carbon dioxide emissions including publications, case studies and a funding search facility. 

The Committee on Climate Change The Committee on Climate Change (CCC) is an independent body established under the Climate Change Act to advise the UK Government on setting carbon budgets, and to report to Parliament on the progress made in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The Department for Environment, food, and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) provides good background information about Climate Change and the national response from government including details of the new Climate Change Bill.

The Environment Agency - Provides information on a number of environmental issues including waste and water management. Includes a specific section for businesses which has updates on the latest regulations.

Travelfootprint is a Clear Zones project that enables you to compare the lifecycle environmental impacts of the main methods of passenger travel in the UK.

Transport for London provides information on all forms of public transport in London including routes, maps, journey planner and online tickets sales.

Walkit.com is a walking map and route planner that helps you get around town on foot. Get a walking map, get written directions, find out how long your journey will take and how much CO2 you can save by walking.

North Central Travel Plan Network has been established to help businesses seeking to become cleaner, greener and more efficient by developing a travel plan.

Waste Resources Action Programme + (Wrap) provide advice, guidance and practical information to businesses of all sizes and types on how to manage waste more effectively and save money in the process

Green / Sustainable Procurement

 

London Remade are a not for profit business working in partnership to develop and improve waste management, recycling and green procurement in London.

The Mayor of London’s Green Procurement code is managed and delivered by London Remade. We recommend that all London based businesses join the code to improve the environmental impact of their purchasing.  

Office of Government Commerce (OGC) Buying Solutions Although these web pages are aimed at the public sector, there is valuable information on the public sector's environmental requirements for those wishing to do work for this sector.

Adapting to Climate Change

 

The UK Climate Impacts Programme along with DEFRA, the Met Office, and a vast scientific comunity have predicted the future UK climate in 2030, 2050 and 2080. See UKCP09 to view the predictions. On the UKCIP website, there is specific advice, publications and tools for businesses.

UK Climate Impacts Programme report 'A Changing Climate for Business' provides a very useful overview of predicted changes to the weather, how this will affect business, and what you can do to prepare.
