What is Carbon Confident?

Carbon Confident is a free, 4-step programme designed for small to medium sized organisations located in Camden delivered by the Better Climate for Camden team. It is designed to provide an organisation with a carbon footprint, reduction target, action plan, and the confidence to implement this action plan to make real carbon savings.

Why Carbon Confident?

  • Is your organisation experiencing increasing pressure to report its carbon emissions?
  • Are clients, stakeholders, and staff asking for effective, practical action?
  • Perhaps your organisation wants to save costs by improving energy efficiency?
  • Does your organisation want to develop a competitive edge in the economic downturn?
  • Or maybe your organisation wants to gain worthwhile environmental credentials?

Knowing where and how to start cutting carbon can be difficult. Carbon management is a new
challenge requiring technical, environmental, and leadership skills. It can be tough for organisations that do not have in-house environmental expertise. However, carbon management is a process like any other and with our training and support your organisation could see measurable reductions within months.

Carbon Confident is designed to support the key person within your organisation to take on this challenge, providing the ‘what? how? and how much?’ knowledge needed to start reducing your emissions.

Carbon Champions

Your organisation will need to nominate a Carbon Champion to lead your organisation through the programme. The ideal person is responsible for the environmental performance of their organisation and could take on responsibility for carbon management and reduction on completion of the programme. Facilities managers, green team leaders and interested staff for example.

The carbon champion may need to spend up to 3 days completing the programme, this includes; attendance at two workshops, calculating the organisation’s carbon footprint, supporting the step two site assessment, and attendance at the review meeting. The carbon champion will provide enthusiasm, motivation and could lead the implementation of the carbon reduction action plan.

Prior experience is not necessary as the programme will cover all you need to know.
