The Camden Climate Change Alliance is offering free carbon assessments to Members that meet the following criteria:
A Carbon Assessment will provide your organisation with a report containing technical and environmental management recommendations to help your organisation to cut its carbon footprint.
Our carbon assessments are made up of three stages:
Stage 1 is a pre-assessment desktop study of an organisation's documentation, such as environmental policies, action plans, maintenance records, and site floor plans, and the configuration of our assessment software and toolkit.
Stage 2 is a site visit to gather data and identify potential improvement recommendations.
Stage 3 is the post-visit recommendation analysis and the production of a final carbon assessment report containing technical and environmental management recommendations.
A carbon assessment differs from an energy audit or environmental audit because the assessor is looking specifically for recommendations that will reduce the organisation's carbon footprint, and where possible, quantifies recommendations in terms of the amount of carbon saved as well as the usual financial savings.
The organisations that would benefit most from a Carbon Assessment are those that may have made some progress in improving their environmental performance such as;
But are now unsure on what to do next and are looking for some technical and practical ideas on how to make measurable savings and reduce their carbon footprint.
Organisations that are just starting out or would like a more bespoke and supported approach should consider our Carbon Confident programme for SMEs. This programme will teach you how to calculate your carbon footprint and offer support to help you implement improvement recommendations.
To successfully complete a Carbon Assessment you will need to send your Carbon Assessor relevant documents at least one week in advance of the assessment date.
The assessor will need access to your site, a site tour lasting no longer then 30 minutes, and to interview key staff such as the Environment Champion and Officer Manager as necessary. Because each organisation is different the Assessor can focus on the specific issues faced by your organisation.
If you are interested in booking a Carbon Assessment please send an email to the Better Climate for Camden Team who will contact you with further information and to set a date.
